The Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday partnered with WRAL-TV to simulcast 10 Hurricanes Hockey Network game broadcasts over the air on WRAL-TV and FOX 50 in the team’s home market. The package will begin on October 2 in conjunction with the launch of HHN before shifting to “Saturday Night Hockey on WRAL” from December through April.
“We are grateful to continue our partnership with WRAL and start what we hope will be a new tradition,” said team Vice President of Communications Mike Sundheim. “Saturday night Hurricanes games at Lenovo Center have always been special, and this package brings that feeling into the living rooms of even more fans.”
“There is nothing like the energy of Carolina Hurricanes hockey, and we are thrilled to bring more of that excitement directly into homes across our region,” said Heather Gray, VP & General Manager of WRAL and FOX50. “Saturday nights are made for big live sports. Put on the jersey, turn up the TV and get ready to cheer. We want this to become a new tradition for Caniacs. Saturday night, Canes hockey and all of Carolina watching together.”
Station assignments between WRAL and FOX 50 will be announced as they are confirmed. Additional over-the-air partners for the package from across the Hurricanes’ broadcast territory will be announced at a later date.
